Sankar Lal Sivasankaran Nair
He comes from Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala, India), where for a few years he studied playing traditional Kerala instruments, as well as basics of the dance-theatre, kathakali. He is a certified aiurvedic masseur. He learned the Southern style of kalarippayattu in Thiruvananthapuram mainly from Tirupuram C. Madhavan (Anjaneya Kalari Sangham), Jayachandran Nair (Kerala School of Martial Arts), as well as Thankapan Assan and Ajith Kumar (Maruthi Marma Chikilsa Kalari Sangham and Ayurveda). In the years 2005-2008, he worked with an Indian theatre group Milon Mela, co-leading numerous workshops and performing in festivals in India and Europe (among others in Poland, on invitation of the Grotowski Centre and Institute). Since a year he has lived in Wroclaw (Poland). He leads trainings and workshops of the Southern style of kalarippayattu, and also gives ayurvedic massages.
Justyna Rodzinska-Nair
She comes from Wroclaw, a graduate of the Individual Interfaculty Studies in the Humanities at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow; author of a master’s thesis dedicated to kalarippayattu and performing arts. In the years 2004-2005, she was connected with the Grotowski Centre as a participant of work sessions, volunteer, and a translator. Currently, she is a work session and project coordinator at the Grotowski Institute. She has learned the Southern style of kalarippayattu since 2005 in Thiruvananthapuram from Jayachandran Nair (Kerala School of Martial Arts), and presently from Thankappan Assan and Ajith Kumar (Maruthi Marma Chikilsa Kalari Sangham and Ayurveda). She co-leads trainings and workshops. She regularly travels to India in order to continue the practice and strengthen family ties.
Karolina Szwed
She comes from Kielce. She graduated from theatre studies at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow with a master’s dissertation on the Indian dance gotipua. She finished actor’s studio "Lart studio" in Cracow. In the years 2004-2008, she participated in international work sessions organised by the Grotowski Institue (until 2007 - Centre) where she occasionaly works as an organiser (2007, 2008). She travelled to India three times, and she did academic research on Indian art and culture, she practised kalarippayattu. She learns Sivananda yoga and hatha yoga. Since 2005, she has practiced the Southern style of kalarippayattu in Thiruvananthapuram - firstly, under the direction of Jayachandran Nair from Kerala School of Martial Arts , and presently under Thankappan Assan and Ajith Kumar at Maruthi Marma Chikilsa and Kalari Sangham. She co-leads workshops and trainings.
